Behind the Scenes of Gangsta Mice City (GMC)
May 29, 2025

Introduction: The World of Gangsta Mice City
In 2021–2022, I had the opportunity to be part of one of the most exciting and high-energy NFT projects of the Web3 wave — Gangsta Mice City (GMC). Created by the client MadOscar and launched on the Ethereum blockchain, GMC introduced a gritty, streetwise universe starring tough, stylized mice living in a sprawling urban jungle.
With strong initial traction and collaborations with other big-name NFT projects, GMC quickly gained attention in the NFT space — and I was proud to contribute as the project’s 2D artist, animator, and motion graphic designer.

My Role in GMC: Art That Sets the Tone
As a 2D artist, my task was to help develop and expand the visual language of the GMC universe. The art direction embraced bold lines, a gritty color palette, and a heavy urban vibe — think graffiti meets street fashion, with a bit of attitude.
Key tasks included:
Designing and illustrating trait layers for the NFT collection (hats, outfits, weapons, etc.)
Creating character poses that reflected the “gangsta” aesthetic
Working closely with the creative team to maintain a consistent visual identity across hundreds of generated assets
Adding Motion: Animating Attitude
What set GMC apart visually was how much personality each mouse character had — and part of that came from animation. As the motion graphic artist and animator, I helped transform static concepts into dynamic, engaging motion visuals.
Animation work highlights:
Teaser trailers and promo videos: short, snappy animations for Twitter and Discord community
NFT showcase reels: animated reveals of featured rare characters
Social snippets: animated GIFs and clips used for marketing drops and collaborations
Each motion asset was designed to feel edgy and high-impact, matching the tone of the project while being optimized for platforms like OpenSea and Twitter.
The Impact: Big Launch, Bold Moves
GMC launched during the peak of NFT buzz and quickly attracted attention from collectors and collaborators. The project:
Sold out rapidly after launch
Partnered with several major NFT brands in cross-collaborations
Gained a loyal community following on Twitter and Discord
For me, this project wasn’t just about making cool art — it was about building a fully immersive, collectible world with depth and energy.
What I Learned from GMC
Working on GMC gave me first-hand experience with fast-paced creative production in the NFT space. I learned to:
Balance creative vision with asset-generation needs
Work in tight production sprints for Web3 launch cycles
Create art and animation that feels both on-brand and scroll-stopping
It also helped strengthen my collaboration with developers, marketing leads, and community teams — making it a complete creative ecosystem.
Final Thoughts
Gangsta Mice City was a unique mix of street style, NFT culture, and storytelling — and I’m proud of the work we did. Being part of this project as a 2D artist and animator gave me a deeper understanding of how visuals can shape digital communities and leave a lasting impression in the Web3 space.
